Living on Long Island in New York has immersed me in a dynamic business environment for many years. In 2018, after nearly two decades in sales, I encountered a unique opportunity to acquire a small business.
Recognizing the importance of careful consideration, I sought expert guidance and was fortunate to connect with a franchise consultant who learned my vision and values. With their guidance, I explored various franchise concepts and discovered one that deeply resonated with my passion and vision.
Opting for a new franchised brand under (what I thought was) a reputable fitness franchisor, I embarked on this journey with enthusiasm, intending to operate it as a semi-absentee owner and entrust a General Manager to be my strategic partner and day-to-day operator.
Despite diligent training for our team of 15 employees (with all but one in part-time roles), we faced initial setbacks and challenges, notably the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic shortly after achieving profitability in February 2020.
However, I remained committed to the business and navigated through the uncertainties brought about by the pandemic, including a 100-day closure starting in March 2020.
Amidst ongoing challenges, I realized that the business did not align with my initial plan of being semi-absentee, and finding a suitable partner for day-to-day operations proved challenging.
During this period of introspection about my career path, I recognized an opportunity to leverage my insights and experience as a franchise owner-operator to assist others in achieving their entrepreneurial dreams.
After nearly six months of thorough research, I concluded that becoming a franchise consultant aligned with my aspirations.
Joining the Franchise Brokers Association (FBA) under William's guidance felt like the right move, offering excellent training and the opportunity to work within a team characterized by high ethical standards and a shared goal of matching the right franchise concept with investors.
I am excited about this new chapter and look forward to making meaningful contributions to the entrepreneurial community."
